U.S. Civil War History
1861 - Tennessee was officially admitted to the Confederacy.
1863 - Union General Ulysses S. Grant defeated Confederates under John C. Pemberton at Champion's Hill. The Rebels went back into Vicksburg and Grant continued his advance toward Jackson, Mississippi.
