1952 - U.S. President Truman ordered the seizure U.S. steel mills to prevent a nationwide strike. On June 2 the seizure was declared unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court.

1988 - Former U.S. President Reagan aid Lyn Nofzinger was sentenced to prison for illegal lobbying for Wedtech Corp.

2010 - U.S. President Barack Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed a treaty that would shrink the limit of nuclear warheads to 1,550 per country over seven years.
