1885 - Wyoming territorial Governor Warren first requested the removal of federal troops from Rock Springs. Troops had began arriving on September 5 after riots between white and Chinese workers on September 2.
2010 - In Cheyenne, a fire heavily damaged the Hitching Post hotel. The landmark was just week away from reopening after extensive renovations. It was later reported that the fire was arson.
