1862 - The U.S. Congress approved an act entitled "An Act to grant lands to Dakota, Montana, Arizona, Idaho and Wyoming for university purposes."

1911 - Wyoming Governor Carey approved an apportionment act that provided that each organized county would have representation in the Wyoming State Legislature.

1937 - A shrapnel shell on the USS Wyoming exploded prematurely during exercises killing six Marines and injuring 11 others.
