1867 - Cheyenne forces attacked a haying party near Fort C.F. Smith, MT. The Indian warriors were held off by the superior firepower of the new Springfield rifles the soldiers had received. The several hundred warriors attacked soldiers near Fort Phil Kearny the next day and were similiarly repulsed.

1897 - The Utah & Northern and the Orgegon Short Line were consolidated under the name Oregon Short Line.

1915 - Automobiles were first admitted into Yellowstone National Park.

1947 - The USS Wyoming was decommissioned.
