1973 - Alexander P. Butterfield informed the Senate committee investigating the Watergate affair of the existence of recorded tapes in the White House.

2004 - At the National Museum of American History an exhibit on voting opened. A Votomatic machine was part of the display. The machine became famous when it introduced America to "butterfly ballots" and various kinds of "chads" in the 2000 presidential election.
