U.S. President History 1945 - U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt died in Warm Spring, GA. He died of a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 63. Harry S Truman was sworn in as president. FDR was the thirty-second president and was the only president to date to serve more than two terms. 1961 - Walt W. Rostow, senior White House specialist on Southeast Asia, delivered a memorandum to U.S. President John F. Kennedy that recommended the "gearing up the whole Vietnam operation." 1986 - U.S. President Ronald Reagan sent Vernon Wallace to Europe to seek support for a military strike on Libya. 1999 - In Little Rock, AR, a federal jury acquitted Susan McDougal of obstruction of justice for refusing to testify against President Clinton and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Whitewater land-development case and other business arrangements. 2004 - Stephen Mansfield's book "The Faith of George W. Bush" was published.
