1946 - The Irving Berlin musical Annie Get Your Gun opened at New York’s Imperial Theatre for the first of 1,147 performances.

1965 - The Rolling Stones appeared with Chuck Berry on the television show Hollywood A-GO-GO.

1965 - The Beach Boys appeared on the The Ed Sullivan Show" and performed "Help Me Rhonda."

1966 - The Beach Boys album Pet Sounds was released.

1968 - Tony Joe White recorded "Polk Salad Annie."

1969 - Jack Casady (Jefferson Airplane) was arrested for possession of marijuana at the Royal Orleans Hotel in New Orleans.

1969 - Pete Townshend (Who) was arrested onstage after mistakenly kicking a New York police officer.

1970 - Randy Bachman left the Guess Who.

1970 - Marty Balin (Jefferson Airplane) was arrested for marijuana possession and for contributing to the deliquency of minors in Bloomington, MN.







1980 - Dr. George C. Nichopoulos was indicted in Memphis on 14 counts of overprescribing drugs to Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and nine other patients.

1981 - Martin Chambers (Pretenders) married Tracy Atkinson.

1983 - The television special Motown 25: Yesterday, Today and Forever aired. It was a taping of the first time that Michael Jackson performed the moonwalk for a live audience.

1998 - Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones) fell off a chair while reaching for a book in his Connecticut home and injured his chest and ribs. A few concert dates were cancelled.

1999 - Paul Brandt and Claudia Church leave for Bosnia to entertain U.S. troops there.

2000 - The Artist announced that he was reclaiming the name "Prince" since his contract with Warner-Chappell had expired. The contract officially ended on December 31, 1999.

2000 - The "What My Heart Has Seen" exhibition opened at the Catto Gallery in London. The art is the work of Tony Bennett.

2000 - The Britney Spears album Oops!..I Did It Again was released.
